Grow Log Updated Jan. 2 2023

Hi everyone! Darrin from Big Cannahuna Nutrients here. I'm going to do a Grow Log over the next 3+ months so people can see what these products are all about and their capabilities. I'll be growing out 3 x Barney's Farm - Glookies, which is a cross between Gorilla Glue #4 and Girl Scout Cookies, 2 iconic California strains. I'll also be growing out 1 x THSeeds - French Cookies, which is their version of Platinum Girl Scout Cookies, yummy. This is my first time growing out these 2 strains, so we'll see what I get but I'm confident it'll be great based on results from past grows involving strains from these 2 Dutch breeders and the quality of the parents involved in the crosses.

I'll be updating the grow log at least once per week with photos and commentary. For now, here are photos of the seed packs and the planters with the seeds planted, taken on Oct. 3, 2022. The Glookies are in the terra cotta planters and the French Cookies is in the green planter. The planters are under a 600 Watt equivalent LED Grow light that has been dimmed to 50% using the dimmer screw located on the underside of the ballast. The heat from the light will help the seeds germinate. The planters are 4 inch diameter and I'm using Promix potting mix. I only added 90 mls of water to each planter prior to planting the seeds to a depth of 1/4 - 1/3 inch and covering them with plastic wrap. It's very important not to overwater or your seeds will drown, they need some air around them to sprout.

The seeds all sprouted and were showing themselves above the soil surface between 48 and 60 hours from the time of planting. We'll call Oct. 6, 2022 Day 1. Once the sprouts were standing I gave each planter another 60 mls of tap water since some water was driven out of the potting mix from the heat of the grow light even though they were covered with plastic wrap. Again, it's very important not to overwater the seedlings or your roots won't develop. The roots need to stretch and grow as they seek water so you want to water your plant small aliquots of water and wait until the planters are feeling light again (but not quite dry) before rewatering. Several small waterings over the course of the week works much better than 1 large watering. I'm currently running the light 18 hours ON and 6 hours OFF to provide an optimized photoperiod for the "grow cycle" of the plants. Here's a photo of the seedlings on Day 1, Oct. 6, 2022.

It's Oct. 10, 2022, Day 5 for our seedlings. I'm still using tap water without any added nutrients, in small aliquots of about 90 mls as needed to get those roots developing. The Day 5 photo is below.

It's Oct. 13, 2022, Day 8 for our seedlings. Still using tap water without any nutrients. I'll begin using Big Cannahuna Nutrients Grow 10-5-10 on Day 12, twice per week as needed. The seedlings are healthy but still quite small, that's ok because it will make the difference all that more noteworthy once I start hitting them with the Big Cannahuna Nutrients, and that's what this is all about after all. The Day 8 photo is below.
It's Oct. 17, 2022, Day 12 for our seedlings. I've been using tap water without any nutrients up until now, but Day 12 is the time when we begin to use the Big Cannahuna Nutrients Grow 10-5-10 so I gave them their first feeding today just prior to taking the photo. I gave them 120 mls of fertilizer solution per planter mixed at regular strength, which is 5 ml of per gallon (4 liters) of tap water. The Day 12 photo is below.
It's Oct. 21, 2022, Day 16 for our seedlings. They've each been given 1 feeding with Big Cannahuna Nutrients Grow 10-5-10 mixed at full strength (5 ml per gallon or 1.25 ml per liter). I'll be giving them another feeding today or tomorrow as each planter dries up and requires water. They get 2 feedings per week at this stage of their life with tap water in between feedings as needed. They're looking good. The Day 16 photo is below.
It's Oct. 24, 2022, Day 19 for our plants. They're looking great, the 2 Glookies in the back are about 6 inches tall and 8 inches wide with lots of roots coming out of the holes on the bottom side of the planters. Those 2 plants will be ready to transplant to 5 gallon planters and put in the budding room within a couple of days. The 3rd Glookies and the French Cookies may take a couple of extra days but are looking very healthy. The Day 19 photo is below.
It's Oct. 27, Day 22 for our plants. Glookies #1 and Glookies #2 were transplanted to 5 gallon planters on Day 20, they were freakishly bushy with a nice root ball for 20 day old plants. French Cookies #1 was transplanted to a 5 gallon planter today. All 3 plants were given 3 liters of our Grow formula after going into the 5 gallon planters. I took a photo of the roots on the French Cookies when I was transplanting it so you can see the strong root system Big Cannahuna Nutrients Grow 10-5-10 produces in only 22 days from seed, and only 10 days from beginning to feed them with our Grow formula. The photo is below. Glookies #1 and #2 as well as French Cookies #1 have been placed under a 600 watt HPS grow lamp in the budding room but the photoperiod is still at 18/6. I'm going to let them root into the 5 gallon planters for a few days prior to switching the photoperiod to 12/12 to induce flowering. Glookies #3 is looking good but still a bit too small to transplant to a 5 gallon planter so it's still under the LED light in a 4 inch planter. Photos are below!
It's Nov. 1, 2022, Day 27 for our plants. All 4 have now been transplanted to 5 gallon planters (Glookies #3 got transplanted yesterday) and all are currently under a 600 Watt HPS Grow Light. I switched the photoperiod to 12/12 today to induce flowering, so today is Day 1 of the "flowering time" that seed breeders refer to along with their seed descriptions for regular and feminized seeds. The Glookies are listed at 60-70 Days flowering time and the French Cookies at 63-70 Days. They were each given a 3 liter feeding with Big Cannahuna Nutrients Grow 10-5-10 today, I'll be switching to Big Cannahuna Nutrients Bloom 6.5-16-15 for the next 6-7 weeks. The photo from today is below, my apologies for the coloration from the HPS lights. As old school growers know, they throw an intense orange/yellow light, so it's difficult getting a good photo that represents the color of the plants. Glookies #1 and #2 are in the rear, Glookies #3 is front right, and French Cookies #1 is front left.
It's Nov. 8, 2022, Day 34 from seed, Day 8 of flowering (start of 12/12 light cycle). The plants are growing vigorously but haven't begun their upward stretch yet. Glookies #1 and #2 are in the rear and are 18 and 20 inches tall. The French Cookies is now on the front right of the photo, it's 17 inches tall. Glookies #3 is on the front left side of the photo, it's only 11 inches tall but it's bushy and looking extremely healthy. I'm currently feeding them Big Cannahuna Nutrients Bloom 6.5-16-15 every time I water. The Day 34 photo is below.
It's Nov. 15, 2022, Day 41 since seed germination, Day 15 of flowering (since the beginning of the 12/12 light cycle) and buds are beginning to form already on Glookies #1 and #2 as well as on the French Cookies. I'm still feeding them Big Cannahuna Nutrients Bloom 6.5-16-15 every time I water them. Glookies #1 is on the back right and it's currently 33 inches tall. Glookies #2 is on the back left and it's 28 inches tall. The French Cookies is on the front right and it stands 27 inches tall. Glookies #3 is on the front left and it's only 17 inches tall so I have it on a step stool to boost it closer to the light. The Nov. 15 photo is below.
Updated Nov. 23, 2022, Day 23 of flowering (beginning of 12/12 light cycle). They've stretched quite a bit over the past 8 days since my last update. Glookies #1 is on the back right and is 42 inches tall, Glookies #2 on the back left is 39 inches tall (1 meter), Glookies #3 on the front left is still on a stool but stands 24 inches and the French Cookies is on the front right and has grown to 45 inches so it has grown 18 inches over the past 8 days. I've increased my fertilizer strength to double strength (2 scoops (10 ml) per gallon of water), still using the Big Cannahuna Nutrients Bloom 6.5-16-15. The buds are filling out nicely. The Nov. 23 photo is below.
It's Dec. 1, 2022, Day 31 of the 12/12 light cycle. Still feeding them Big Cannahuna Nutrients Bloom 6.5-16-15 at double strength (10 ml per 4 liters of water). The top photo is Glookies #1 and #2, they're budding fast and getting frosty, ahead of schedule in my opinion. The bottom photo is the French Cookies in the foreground and Glookies #3 is to the left of it in the background. The Dec. 1 photos are below.
It's Dec. 7, 2022, Day 37 of the 12/12 light cycle. They're budding fast and frosting up with trichomes. I'm still feeding them Big Cannahuna Nutrients Bloom 6.5-16-15 but I lowered the strength to single strength (5 ml per 4 liters of water) for the last week prior to switching to Big Cannahuna Nutrients Finish 2-37-24 for the final 2 weeks prior to harvest. The first photo is Glookies #1, it's actually looking almost done as early as it is, the pistils are turning orange and the calyxes are swollen. The second photo is Glookies #2, it looks on schedule, crazy frosty. The 3rd photo is the French Cookies with Glookies #3 in the background to the left. The French Cookies is going to take at least a week longer than the Glookies, maybe 2 weeks.
It's Dec. 14, 2022, Day 44 of flowering (since the beginning of 12/12 light cycle). I just switched to our finishing formula today, Big Cannahuna Nutrients Finish 2-37-24. This formula is mixed very dilute, just 1 small scoop (1.5 mls) per 4 liters of water, so a 1 pound bag goes a long way. No flush is required, our Finish formula will drive all of the remaining nutrients into the plant and force the plant to utilize them over the last 2 weeks prior to harvest. Large fan leaves will fade as the remaining Nitrogen in the plant is forced into the buds where it will be used to ripen them. The buds will gain girth and density, increased resin production, better flavor and higher potency with Big Cannahuna Nutrients Finish 2-37-24. The photos are below. Sorry for the lighting, like I said already, the HPS lights throw an intense orange/yellow light and I'm using a $250 phone to take photos plus I'm not exactly a good photographer.
It's Dec. 18, 2022, Day 48 of flowering. I wasn't planning on posting an update today but I took a couple of bud shots of Glookies #1 because it's looking ready. It's crazy frosty with trichomes, even the large fan leaves are coated. I'm going to give it a couple more days with Big Cannahuna Nutrients Finish 2-37-24 to ensure any excess nitrogen and residual trace metals are used up to improve flavor and maximize potency. The photos below are 2 different angles of the terminal bud.
It's Dec. 23, 2022 and I'm about to blow your mind! I bet you're already impressed with the close ups of the buds from Dec. 18 found above. What a difference 5 days and Big Cannahuna Nutrients Finish 2-37-24 makes. The Glookies are ready to harvest. The French Cookies needs another week. In order below along with bud close ups from each plant, Glookies #1, Glookies #2 and French Cookies.
It's Dec. 29 2022. I've got all 3 of the Glookies harvested this past week, 2 already dried and packaged, one still on the tray drying. I harvested the French Cookies on Dec. 28 and took some photos just prior to harvest. The whole plant has turned dark purple, with yellowing in the large fan leaves hiding behind the purple coloration. I got 114 grams of dried bud from Glookies #1, it's as frosty as anything I've ever grown, only 56 grams from Glookies #3 but it was a very small plant and still produced high quality rock hard nuggets. The first 2 photos below are the French Cookies just prior to harvest and a close up of a pair of buds on the main stem of that plant. The 3rd and 4th photos are of the dried bud from Glookies #1, they have some purple hues as well.
It's Jan. 2, 2023 and I have some more pics of the dried buds. The photos of Glookies #2 can be found below. The total yield was 142 grams of dried bud and you're looking at all of it in the first photo. Without a doubt some of the most compact bud I've ever grown as well as some of the frostiest. I not sure it's possible to produce more compact or frostier bud than this plant. Bon appetite.
